Our Community’s Campaign
For nearly four decades, LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence (CHOICES) has been providing a safe, secure shelter for victims of domestic violence in central Ohio. Regrettably, the demand for sheltering of victims of domestic abuse in Columbus and the surrounding areas has increased, and LSS CHOICES’ resources have been stretched thin.
LSS CHOICES challenged Inspire with helping to launch a community campaign to help build a new shelter for victims of domestic violence and their families. As part of an overall communications strategy, Inspire worked with the team at LSS CHOICES to coordinate a community-wide event to announce the shelter campaign and highlight early champions of the campaign. A year later, Inspire worked with LSS CHOICES to coordinate the ceremonial groundbreaking event at the shelter site.
The objectives were to educate the central Ohio community on the need for the new shelter, encourage donations, and recognize campaign champions throughout the process.
Inspire developed a comprehensive event and media strategy to support the campaign. In addition, our team created all event signage and media materials, coordinated event logistics and agendas, developed impactful messaging, designed a print program, conducted targeted media pitches and more.
Inspire engaged community partners by developing newsletter content, suggested social media posts, infographics of local domestic violence statistics, and executing an influencer campaign to “double your impact” through a Thirty-One Gifts matching donation.
- The campaign launch groundbreaking events were well-attended by community and business leaders of Central Ohio and garnered local news coverage by the Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Business First. All local TV news stations also covered the event.
- Inspire worked with Brainstorm Media to develop an impactful video from the launch event to generate awareness and encourage donations. The video was used at future fundraising events by LSS CHOICES.
- Inspire received a PRism award for the communications support provided to LSS CHOICES from the Central Ohio Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
- Coverage for the ceremonial groundbreaking event included 11 local media placements, totaling nearly 2.4 million impressions with an editorial value of more than $73,000.
