The Project

Bob Evans was honored to serve the men and women who gave tirelessly to serve in the U.S. armed forces by offering a choice of free farm-fresh menu items all day long on Veterans Day at all restaurant locations in the country. Because founder Bob Evans was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II in several posts, Veterans Day is an important day for the company to provide at least a small token of gratitude and say “thank you” to American heroes.

Inspire worked with Bob Evans to develop a comprehensive media relations strategy to promote the Veterans Day offer. Inspire researched and provided details to online sources and news outlets that were giving readers a list of restaurants and retailers that provide “deals” on Veterans Day. Inspire also developed and distributed a press release and media advisory to news outlets across the 18 states where Bob Evans restaurants are located.

The Results

  • As a result of Inspire’s targeted media outreach, the Veterans Day offer was distributed to more than 3,500 sources and picked up by more than 250 news outlets, including those with an armed forces target audience, including Army.com, Hawaii Army Weekly, Military Pay and The Military Wallet.
  • Inspire directly coordinated print, radio and television interviews, including in-restaurant and in-studio, with news outlets in various restaurant markets.
  • Overall, media coverage was positive and was featured both in print and online by local, trade and national publications, including Examiner.com, Cincinnati.com, The Free Lance-Star, Herald-Tribune, and USA Today.
